Crib In Master Bedroom Ideas
Parachute Linen Duvet + Cribsheets| Ikea Crib | Target Cotton Bedsheets
If you remember on our Instagram a while back, we started doing some updates to our master bedroom to prepare for the arrival of baby boy. We had recently shared a post on Kaeden's big boy room update, so I was feeling inspired to tackle this next home project. We had made some improvements a few years ago – mostly new paint that was already peeling off and we still had furniture that was back from when I was living alone so it was a great time to bring some new life back into our master bedroom.

Our goal was to make our space cozier and brighter but also gender neutral. We wanted to create a space that would work for us but also as a shared nursery. You've heard me say this before, but our apartment doesn't get a lot of natural light. We designed the room around bringing in pieces that would emphasize the sun we do get throughout the day and also add texture back in. I had sold our old nightstands and lamps a while ago – Facebook marketplace is addicting 😝 – so we started there. With us on the house hunt, I searched for pieces that could transition into any home easily. Justin didn't care much what we put into the room, but he did want a darker mid-century style nightstands but a lot of the ones we liked were crazy expensive so I was lucky enough to find these mid-century nightstands and beautiful white-on-white lamps to go with it at Target. They go so well together and added some much needed contrast back into the space.
It was important that our bedroom feel like a little oasis because outside of the living room, it's where we spend most of our time together. We like to snuggle up and watch a show or two before bed and most mornings we get little visitors coming into our room. The mornings are my favorite; the way the sun shines in brings such warmth to the space. It instantly lifts your mood and starts your day right. I'm always going to remember those sunny mornings in our little apartment with five of us snuggled in bed.
Some of the pieces we already had, we kept. Our wood dresser has been a staple in our room for a few years now. It actually was a part of Kaeden's original crib set that made its way into our room when Sienna was born. Our TV went above it because that was really the only space available that made sense to put it. It is a bit of an eye sore but I'd love to upgrade to a frame TV one day so it's less noticeable.

I can't tell you how happy it makes me now that my hats have a home. They were thrown around the room before and I'd been wanting to hang them on the wall for a while. I used these amazing brass wall hooks that I found on Etsy. They worked out great and are such a cute little detail. I feel like the small details are just as important, if not more when you're designing a space! Parachute Home is another brand that we love for home products. They have amazing linen sheets that are so soft and amazing quality. Their linen duvet was high on our list to add to our home. We loved the texture it added to any room so we went with the color bone which added just the warmth we wanted. We bought the all season insert with it and it's like sleeping in a cloud!

Dakota's little nursery nook is probably my favorite part of our bedroom now. We dedicated a little corner next to the window just for him. It took me a few months to figure out what design I wanted to do. I knew that keeping it simple would make the whole room flow together so I stuck with a neutral palette with pops of brown and color added throughout with plants, baskets, etc. This Ikea crib has been a staple piece in Sienna's nursery and we love it so that's where we started. We added our favorite Parachute Home linen crib sheet and found a cute waffle blanket to add some coziness for baby boy since he'll be sleeping there for a long time.

The area above his crib kind of came together organically. I'd gone through my kid's room board on Pinterest and saw this beautiful basket and I immediately feel in love. With limited space, it was important to create storage anyway we could so this basket was perfect for not only decor, but storing swaddles. Dakota's first stuffed animal also has a perfect spot there. This rhino from Maileg is the perfect first stuffy for our little guy! Their safari friends collection has been a favorite of mine with the kids cause it combines a sweet stuffed friend with playful imagination. I picture Kota dragging it around the house making animal noises when he starts walking. Ha! The shelf is actually an Ikea spice rack flipped upside down. I wanted to add some cute little details and greenery so I went with some beautiful Spanish moss that hangs over his crib and this adorable stackable mountain toy that he can play down the road. Looking at how it all came together gives me so much joy.
I got the idea of putting baskets under the crib from a friend. I loved these seagrass ones from Ikea. They are great quality and super inexpensive. I also love the texture that they bring into the space. I use them as extra storage for bibs, brushes, and miscellaneous baby stuff. I plan on grabbing a couple more for the kids closet! For the art print, I really was having a hard time finding something that wouldn't be too loud. I finally came across Hearts In Colors, where I found this amazing abstract print that matched so well with the pieces we had already. It really completed the space and gave that extra something that it needed. Their website has so many different prints to pick from. I'm definitely going to use them again when we decorate a home.
Decorating this nursery nook for our last baby was so much fun but it brought so many emotions with it. I'm sad that we won't decorate for another babe again but seeing our kids grow in their spaces has been some of the best memories we had in this home. And I know as they continue grow, only the best is yet to come. These spaces we created the last few years for our babies will always hold such a special place in my heart.
